Tributes paid to Adityanar
Chennai, Sep 27 (UNI) Floral tributes were paid to former Tamil Nadu Minister and founder of popular Tamil daily, 'Daily Thanthi,' C P Adityanar, on the occasion of his 104th birth anniversary today.
State Ministers M K Stalin, T M Anbarasu and Geetha Jeevan and a host of political party leaders, including Congress leader K V Thangkabalu, PMK leader S Ramadoss, K Veeramani, Jagaratchakan, A C Shanmugam and Poovai Jaganathan garlanded the statue of Adityanar and paid their tributes.
Daily Thanthi Director and son of Adityanar P Sivanthi Adityan accompanied by his son and 'Malai Malar' Managing Director Balasubramnia Adityan garlanded the statue at Egmore.
In the evening, eminent Tamil literary scholars ''Kovi'' Manisekaran and G Velnambi were honoured with this year's 'C P Adityanar's Senior Tamil Scholar and Literary Awards,' instituted by ''Daily Thanthi''.
While Mr Manisekaran has been selected for Senior Tamil Scholar Award, which carried a silver medallion and a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh, Mr Velnambi has been selected for the Literary Award, which carried a cash prize of Rs one lakh, a release from the daily said here today.
The two scholars were honoured with the awards at a function held here. Thanjavur Tamil University Vice Chancellor M Rajendran presented the awards in the presence of Mr P Sivanthi Adityan.
