Seven militants, army havaldar killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, Sep 27 (UNI) Seven militants and an Army havaldar were killed in an encounter in Ganderbal district in Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours.

A Defence Ministry spokesman said troops on a specific information launched a search operation at Bandipora-Ganderbal track yesterday morning to nab the militants.

During the operation, the militants attacked the troops, triggering an encounter, in which three militants were killed yesterday.

He said four more militants were killed by the troops today.

The operation was going on when the reports last came in, he added.

A police spokesman said an Army havaldar Bahadur Singh Bahar also lost his life during the encounter.
