RDD, DRDA to organise 'Saras Fair-2008'
Rajkot, Sep 27 (UNI) The Rural Development Department (RDD) of the Gujarat government and District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) have jointly organised a 12-day national level ''SARAS-FAIR-2008'', that would commence here from October nine.
DRDA Director V C Varma, in a press conference here on Thursday, said the exhibition-cum-sale fair, under the brand name of SARAS (Sale of Rural Artisans of Society), will display a wide range of products manufactured by the rural artisans, craftsmen and beneficiaries of self-help-groups (SHGs) across the country.
The fair also aims at creating a unique platform for developing linkages with customers and providing an opportunity to artisans to interact with the buyers directly, Mr Varma informed.
the fair will exhibit over 260 stalls from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra, Kolkata, Andhra Pradesh and Tripura, he said.
Cultural programmes of various states will also be a part of the Fair, Mr Varma added.
