Lioness carcass found near Gir Forest
Junagadh, Sep 27 (UNI) Carcass of a ten-year-old lioness was found in Chikhat Kuba village, situated on Gir Forest border, 200 km away from the city.
Chief Conservator of Forest (wildlife-Jungadh) Bharat Pathak said the carcass was found in the village yesterday in a decomposed state. The animal may have died about a few days ago due to some illness, though its nail, skull and paws were intact, he said.
A panel of veterinary doctors conducted autopsy on the spot. The exact cause of the death could not be ascertained immediately.
Viscera of the animal has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for further examination.
