Lashker top commander killed in Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 27 (UNI) In a major success, the security forces killed a top commander of the Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) in an encounter in north Kashmir, a police spokesman said today.
He said police and 9 para army launched a joint operation at Hafrada forest in the frontier district of Kupwara today, following a tip-off about the presence of the militants there.
During the operation the militants opened fire, triggering an encounter in which Abu Khubib, a resident of Pakistan was killed.
The spokesman said Khubaib, an 'A' category militant, was functioning as the launching commander of the LeT.
One AK 47 rifle, three magazines and 38 rounds, besides one blanket and dairy were recovered from the slain militant.
He was responsible for recruiting and sending youths for receiving arms training in Pakistan- occupied Kashmir (PoK) camps.
