CPI, AIADMK stage walkouts

Puducherry, Sep 27 (UNI) Councillors of the Communist Party of India (CPI) and AIADMK today staged separate walkouts in the 18th council meeting of the Ozhukarai municipality, here today.

The CPI councillors staged the walk out in protest against the alleged failure of municipality on various issues while the lone AIADMK councillor walked out of the meeting in protest against its alleged failure of repairing of roads in his ward at Saram.

As soon as the meeting began, the four-member CPI block was on their feet and pointed out that the garbage cleaners were not paid for the past nine months.

In his reply, Chairman N S J Jayabal said the government was respobsible for the lapses. Not satisifed with the clarifications, the CPI members staged a walk out.

AIADMK member Ganesan also alleged that the road repair works were not undertken for the last four months at Tendral nagar.

Later, the meeting continued and adopted several resoutions.
