UP govt seeks explanation over demolition at Lohia Path

Lucknow, Sep 26 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today, taking serious note of the demolition of some portion of the cycle track of the Lohia Path yesterday in the state capital, sought an explanation from the authorities concerned for their laxity.

According to an official release, the government has also ordered re-fixing of the railings of the demolished cycle track.

''As the probe into the entire Lohia Path was pending, therefore such actions should have been avoided at least by the time the probe report was made available to the government,'' the statement said.

The government statement also mentioned that no action should be taken on political rivalry and all eminent personalities should be honoured.

Yesterday, tension had broke out at the Lohia path when Public Works Department (PWD) had started demolishing the railings of the cycle-track.

However, on the opposition of the SP, these railings were restored at the same place by the PWD. A strong 1,000 supporters of the SP had stalled the demolition of the cycle track of the Lohia path constructed during the previous Mulayam Singh Yadav regime.

SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav had, cautioning Ms Mayawati, said, ''I want to warn the CM that don't try to browbate the socialists as she will be held accountable for each and every stone being used in various memmorials and gardens.'' The SP would give her a befitting reply by bulldozing the structures constructed by the present state regime after coming to power, Mr Yadav had cautioned.
