Tandoor murder case: Case against IAS officer closed
New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) A Delhi court today closed the case against D K Rao, the IAS officer of Gujarat Cadre, against whom a criminal proceeding was initiated in the infamous Tandoor murder case.
During the trial of the case, it had come to light that after killing his wife Naina Sahni and burning her body in an oven of a restaurant, Sushil Sharma, former Youth Congress leader, had visited Gujarat Bhawan on July 2, 1995.
Mr Rao had deposed before the court that Sharma looked tense when he entered the Gujarat Bhawan.
After the trial, Additional Sessions Judge G P Thareja had ordered registration of a case against Mr Rao for harbouring the offender.
Against this observation, Mr Rao had moved the Delhi High Court, which, on his application, had observed that no case of harbouring was made out against him as there was no evidence of him knowing about Sharma committing a murder.
After the order of High Court, the trial court today closed the case against Rao.
