Security beefed up in Kanpur court
Kanpur/Lucknow, Sep 26 (UNI) Security has been tightened in the Kanpur district court today, following a threat to blow it up.
An anonymous postcard received by the District Judge said that there would be bomb blasts on the premises after the Alvida Namaz.
The security, along with bomb disposal squads and other anti-sabotage machinery, had been tightened on the court premises of both Kanpur and Kanpur (Dehat) districts, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Kanpur range Kamal Saxena told UNI here.
He said the credentials of the letter were being verified and no untoward incident has so far been reported from both the districts.
The Namaz of the last Friday of Ramzaan, meanwhile, passed off peacefully in Kanpur and surrounding districts, the DIG said.
