Report religious matters with caution: Jamir advises media
Mumbai, Sep 26 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S C Jamir today advised media to maintain restrain while reporting on religious matters.
Speaking at a meeting organised for the media at Raj Bhavan here, Mr Jamir said every religion preaches for peace and harmony, but still people fight in the name of religion.
He said he was part of the group which had started a newspaper in Meghalaya several decades ago and reiterated that ''care should be taken while reporting on such matters.'' Mr Jamir's wife Alemna was also present at the tea meeting.
Mr Jamir said he had started his life close to mountains of Meghalaya and for the last four years, he was enjoying the seashore of Arabian Sea at Mumbai and Goa. ''I am happy here.'' The cosmopolitan status of the state capital, which is also the financial capital of the country, should be preserved, he added.
