Probe into Tagore's Nobel theft case reinitiated
Santiniketan, Sep 26 (UNI) Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Hridaytulya Bhutia today gave nod for reinitating probe into Rabindranath Tagore's Nobel medal theft case.
The investigative officer of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Partha Sarathi Bose said the prize money of Rs 10 lakh, declared for anybody who led to the recovery of the award, would remain unaltered. He added that the notice would be issued soon, in this regard.
The CBI had sought permission from the Bolpur Court for continuing investigations in the case after obtaining fresh clues on September 18.
In August 2007, the CBI had put a halt in probing further into the matter through an affidavit to the court, stating that the inquiry would resume after getting fresh clues.
However, the investigative officers remained tightlipped about the ''clues''.
Interestingly, one of the prime suspects of the gang, Jiban Bagdi, was found murdered in Kirnahara, 25 km from here, in the first week of September.
