Prisoner escapes from bus

Tiruchirapalli, Sep 26 (UNI) A 45-year-old undertrial escaped by jumping out of a running bus at Konalai Village, near here,last night.

Police said Selvaraj of North Ponparappi Village in Villupuram District was lodged in the Central Prison in connection with a theft case.

He was brought to a lower court at Sankarapuram by a two-member police team in a bus.

After court proceedings, they were bringing him back to the Central Prison here by bus when he escaped. A search was on to nab him, police said.
