Pondy: Police lathicharges on VCK volunteers
Puducherry, Sep 26: Police resorted to a mild lathicharge to disperse a group of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi(VCK) volunteers, who took out a procession in front of the Villianur Commune Panchayat on Friday, Sep 26.
Police said, State Convenor of VCK Mr Paavanan had organised a demonstration to press their 11-point charter of demands, including provision of basic amenities, after getting permission from the police.
Meanwhile, another group of volunteers, led by Mr Thalayari took out a procession to reach the same venue to press the same demands.
Police blocked them stating that they did not have permission.
Since, they forcibly proceeded further, police resorted to a lathicharge and arrested 50 agitators.
