MoU signed between DVC and Tata Power
Kolkata, Sep 26 (UNI) A memorandum of understanding was signed between Damodar Valley Corporation and Tata Power Ltd here today for research and development for generation of conventional and non-conventional energy.
The MoU was signed in presence of Minister of State for Power and Commerce Jairam Ramesh.
Mr Subrata Biswas, Secretary of DVC, signed the document on behalf of DVC, while Mr Prasad R Menon, Managing Director, Tata power, signed on behalf of Tata Power.
On this occasion, Mr Ramesh informed that it was a comprehensive agreement to develop such kind of technology, which would help generate adequate energy in future.
He also said, '' By 2011, we may face 60-70 million ton coal deficiency which may be fulfilled by import of coal, which is not desirable. '' Mr Ramesh informed that DVC was going to open a new office in Ranchi for monitoring their ongoing projects.
He said Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shibu Soren had offered three acre of land for construction of a new DVC office at Ranchi.
