Shillong, Sep 26 (UNI) The Khasi Students Union (KSU) has reiterated its demand to implement the recommendations of the cabinet committee on influx as soon as possible.
The KSU urged the Meghalaya Progressive Alliance(MPA), led by Dr Donkupar Roy, to implement the cabinet panel report urgently so that illegal immigrants do not pose a threat to the identity of ethnic communities of the state.
'' It is a matter of grave concern to the outsiders who enter the state and if the government failed to implement the committee panel report without further delay the influx situation would worsen,'' union general secretary Hamlet Dohling said.
The authorities are yet to take an initiative to deal with the influx issue though the problem was given importance in the Common Minimum Programme of the MPA government, he alleged.
The influx of outsiders in the state especially by Bangladeshis was a cause for concern and the recent bomb blasts in a number places of the country sould have opened the eyes of the state government and tackle the influx problem by deporting illegal migrants, the general secretary demanded.
