Friday prayers pass off peacefully amid tight security

Hyderabad, Sep 26 (UNI) Amid tight security, Jummat-ul-Vida (last Friday of Ramzan month) prayers were held at Mecca Masjid near Charminar and Jame-e-Masjid in Secunderabad here today.

Tens and thousands of devotees offered prayers at various mosques in the city and also other parts of the State in connection with the month-long Ramzan Festival.

Police heaved a sigh of relief as the prayers in the communally- sensitive city passed off peacefully with no untoward incident reported from anywhere.

Police had made elaborate security arrangements at Mecca Masjid, Jame-e-Masjid and other mosques for peaceful conduct of the prayers.

However, police took into their custody a youth, who raised slogans against terrorism while the devotees were dispersing from Mecca Masjid after prayers.
