Excise dept seizes foreign liquor worth Rs 4.68 lakh

Mumbai, Sep 26 (UNI) Maharashtra Excise department sleuths have arrested three people and seized foreign liquor worth Rs 4.68 lakh at Fort area in South Mumbai.

Acting on a tip-off, the sleuths picked Anil Narayan (24), who was carrying a cartoon with liquor from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) yesterday, Excise inspector Laxman Jankar told UNI.

Later, they arrested Sajju Basu Narayan (25) and Rajan Rajgopal Poojari (24) while they were busy in mixing foreign liquor at a godown, following Anil's revelations.

Foreign liquor worth Rs 4,68,401 and duplicate bottles of Mc Dowell and Hyward brands worth Rs 60,495 were seized from the godown, Mr Jankar said.

One more person is absconding in the case, he added.
