Committee recommends bridge construction in TN
Karur, Sep 26 (UNI) The Petition Committee of the Tamil Nadu Assembly had recommended construction of a bridge across Amaravathy river at Pasupathypalayam in Karur, in lieu of the existing causeway there, according to Chairman of the Committee and Valparai MLA, Kovai Thangam.
Talking to newspersons here yesterday, Mr Thangam said the Committee would recommend to prevent pollution of Cauvery and Amaravathy by effluents released by numerous dyeing units and supply of potable water to Thathampalayam and Thannasigoundanur, as the water resources were affected by effluents discharged from the Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited from its Kagithapuram paper mill.
The panel would also recommend renovation and upgradation of Kattalai high-level Channel, he added.
He said the committee had received 213 petitions from public in Karur District, of which 166 had been disposed off.
