Manipur: Colleges shut due to militant threats
Imphal, Sep 26: Three main colleges in the city DM College of Science, DM College of Commerce and Oriental College have been closed down due to monetary demands by suspected militants.
Suspected militants had also locked the offices of the colleges. The staff and students staged a sit-in protest Friday, Sep 26, demanding withdrawal of all sorts of threats by militants.
Meanwhile All Manipur Students Union(AMSU) and Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur(DESAM) have appealed for non-interference in the functioning of educational institutions.
Several educational institutes in the state have been forced to close down due to monetary demands by suspected militants.
DESAM had also organised a massive rally recently to demand free zone status for all educational institutions.
