Appointment of 2,000 sweepers cancelled in UP district

Mirzapur, Sep 26 (UNI) The recent appointment of nearly 2,000 sweepers have been cancelled with immediate effect in the district following massive irregularities.

The action was initiated after a three-member probe committee, which was set-up for the purpose after increasing complaints, submitted its report yesterday, District Magistrate P C Dixit today said.

The probe committee's report read that the selection process of the sweepers lacked transperancy.

Meanwhile, the district administration ordered for a fresh process and stringent action against the erring officials.

Yesterday, the state government had also cancelled the selection process of sweepers in Gorakhpur, Behraich and Sultanpur districts over the same reason.
