Woman commits suicide over dowry torture

Mumbai, Sep 25 (UNI) A 24-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well, following torture by husband and in-laws over dowry at Kandivali in western suburb here.

According to police, Kalyani Mishra (24), who got married in 2001, was being regularly harassed by her husband Dhiraj Mishra (27) and in-laws for a motor bike from her parents.

Kalyani went missing on September 23, following which Dhiraj lodged complaint with the police. However, her body was fished out from the well near their residence yesterday.

Police have arrested Dhiraj and his father Rajendraprasad Mishra. While his mother and sister are at large.
