Virgin Mary's statue damaged in TN, security up

Kanniyakumari, Tamil Nadu, Sep 25 (UNI) Tension prevailed here today after devotees found the glass case and the right hand of the statue of Virgin Mary damaged at a place of worship near Rajamangalam.

Police said as news of the vandalism spread, a large number of people gathered before the place of worship even as police rushed to the spot and covered the statue with cloth.

The entire place of worship was ringed by police personnel to prevent any untoward incident. They also refused permission to the media to take any photographs of the statue.Two persons were being interrogated in connection with the incident.
