Truck crushes six to death, rams into the road side huts
Jalandhar, Sept 25 (UNI) An inebriated truck driver knocked dead a cyclist and rammed the vehicle into roadside huts, crushing five labourers to death on Kartarpur-Kapurthala road in this district late last night.
The accident occurred when the heavily drunk truck driver lost control over the vehicle, hit a cyclist dead and mowed down five labourers sleeping inside the roadside huts, police sources said.
A crowd, which immediately gathered at the accident spot, nabbed the druck driver and gave him a sound thrashing.
Police extricated the bodies which were lying crushed under the truck, police sources said.
The deceased were identified as Paramjit, Ram Das, Lal Babu, three year old Reena, Jadwa and Joginder.
A case has been registered against the driver.
