Truck crushes six to death, rams into roadside huts

Jalandhar, Sep 25 (UNI) An inebriated truck driver knocked dead a cyclist and rammed his vehicle into roadside huts, crushing five labourers to death on Kartarpur-Kapurthala road inthis district late last night.

The accident occurred when the heavily drunk truck driver lost control over the vehicle, hit a cyclist dead and mowed down five labourers sleeping inside the roadside huts, police sources said.

A crowd, which immediately gathered at the accident spot, nabbed the truck driver and beat him up.

Police extricated the bodies which were lying crushed under the truck, the police sources said.

A case has been registered against the driver.
