Three militants shot dead, arms recovered
Imphal, Sep 25 (UNI) Three suspected militants were shot dead in an encounter by a joint team of Imphal West police commandos and 16 Assam Rifles of the Red Shield Division at Thangjing Chiru.
A statement issued by the PIB (Defence Wing) here today said based on specific inputs, the joint team laid an ambush last night and challenged the militants, leading to an encounter.
In the ensuing gun fight three militants were killed. One AK-56 rifle with 11 bullets, one 9 mm pistol with four bullets and one hand grenade were recovered from the spot.
In another incident, a man was shot dead last night at Imphal East by unknown armed persons.
