SEZs beneficial for people in Mah: Rane
Kolhapur, Sep 25 (UNI) Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane today endorsed the state government's decision to set up the special economic zones (SEZs) in the state, saying these projects will benefit the people.
Addressing a news conference here, Mr Rane said the government did not acquire the land for the projects forcefully, but after taking a consent from the farmers.
He said the SEZs will give boost to the state economy. The industrial units there will create job opportunities for the family members of those farmers who have surrendered their lands for the projects.
Replying to a query, he said there is growing discontent among people over long hours of load shedding and inadequate benefits to the farmers among others. However, these problems will be resolved soon, he assured.
The Congress will face the elections due next year on the development plank, Mr Rane added.
