Coins of Vallatharasu to be released in TN

Pudukkottai, Sep 25: Veteran trade union leader D Gurusamy on Thursday, Sep 25 appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to release a commemorative coin in memory of freedom fighter and former MP from Pudukkottai District K Muthusamy Vallatharasu.

In a letter to Dr Singh, a copy of which was made available to the press, Mr Gurusamy, while thanking Prime Minister for taking the initiative to release the commemorative coin in memory of late C N Annadurai and other leaders from Tamil Nadu, wanted the Union Government to also honour Vallathatrasu by releasing a commemoration coin in his name as a mark of respect.

He recalled the services of Vallatharasu as parlimentarian and for his yeoman services by taking part in late E V Ramaswamy's Self Respect Movement.
