Police use batons at Leftists' demonstration
Jaipur, Sep 25 (UNI) A number of people were hurt as the police used force during a demonstration held by the Left Parties at the District Collectorate here today.
The demonstration was held by the Communist Party of India(CPI), Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and the Janata Dal(S) on a countrywide call from the Leftists and like-minded parties in protest against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's advancements for signing the Nuke deal with the US and his government's failure to check price rise and inflation.
CPI(M) State Secretary Prof Vasudev had alleged that the police had beaten up demonstrators, including women, without provocation.
He, along with several workers, also sat on dharna for sometime in protest against the "lathicharge".
However, the police denied charges of lathicharge and said that they just controlled the mob.
