PMC, left parties stage demo
Puducherry, Sep 25 (UNI) The Puducherry Munnetra Congress (PMC) along with CPI and the CPI(M) today held a demonstration in front of the Head Post Office here.
The joint agitation was to condemn the attack on minority community people in different states. The agitation was also to protest the price rise of essential commodities and the Indo-US nuclear deal.
Speaking on the occasion, PMC Founder-President P Kannan cautioned the Puducherry administration not to indulge in any victimisation.
Pointing out the action against the President of the Confederation of Puducherry State Government Employees Association C H Balamohanan, Mr Kannan said the administration indulging in such unwarranted activities was not proper.
If the Vaithilingam Government did not act in a humane way, the PMC along with other like-minded parties would resort to agitation, he added.
It may be noted that with Mr Kannan announcing that the PMC was ready to forge an alliance with the parties which would accept its leadership, the CPI and CPI(M) leaders met him last week and had a closed-door meeting where a decision about the joint demonstration was taken.
