Ophthalmological conference on Sep 26

Vijayawada, Sep 25: The three-day 32nd AP Ophthalmological annual conference will begin at Dhanekula Kalyana Mandapam here tomorrow.

Addressing a press conference here today, Organising Committee Chairman Dr K Sivaramakrishna said the conference was being organised in coordination with Vijayawada Academy of Ophthalmology and AP Ophthalmological Society in which more than 1,000 ophthalmologists from all over Andhra Pradesh, would take part.

Vice-Chancellor of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUMS) U K Krishna Raju would formally inaugurate the function on September 27. Scientific deliberation would be taken up during the conference period, he added.

Dr Sivaramakrishna said renowned doctors Dr Subramaniam from Hyderabad, Hemat Kamal from the United Kingdom and K Srinivasa Rao from Chennai, would address the conference, which was being held every year in different cities of the state.

The main objective of conducting the conference was to discuss the latest advances in Ophthalmology, including advances in treatment of cataract, corneal disease, refractive errors and use of laser surgeries in ophthalmology. Training sessions would be held to demonstrate the advances in ophthalmology surgery techniques, he added.

He said renowed ophthalmologists from the state would be felicitated at the conference.
