Inter-state arms racket busted
Kolkata, Sep 25(UNI) The Military Intelligence Unit of Eastern Command and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal Police today claimed to have busted an inter-state arms racket when they arrested a person with a huge cache of fire arms.
According to a communique from the Army, pesonnel of the joint team, arrested Ajay Singh, a resident of Khagaria district in Bihar, with 19 pipe guns near Shalimar railway station in Shibpur police station area of Howrah district.
The communique said the arrested person had come to Howrah to deliver the consignment to a party.
'' The individual was part of a wide network of illegal arms trafficking in Bihar, West Bengal and various other states of North Eastern India,'' it said.
