Illicit mobile liquor unit busted; 4 held

Puducherry, Sep 25 (UNI) Police today busted a mobile illicit liquor making unit and arrested four persons in this connection.

According to police, Thirubhuvanai Sub-Inspector Prabhakaran noticed a mini-van stationed at Thiruvandarkoil for quite some time.

He went near the van for a search. Before he could reach the vehicle, it went away.

Police chased and stopped it before arresting driver Suresh. On a search, they found 4,800 empty bottles, arrack in 17 cans with a capacity of 50 litre each, colour powder in seven bottles, three sealing machines and labels of ''Old Monk'' rum. The total worth was estimated at around Rs five lakh.

On interrogation, Suresh disclosed the involvement of Rajee, Vijee and Thirukkarasu who were also arrested. Police handed over the vehicle and case to the Excise Police.
