Former Assam MLA passes away
Tezpur, Sep 25 (UNI) Former Assam MLA and noted physician Robin Goswami breathed his last at Mumbai late last night after prolonged illness.
He was 72. He is surrived by wife and two daughters.
He was suffering from cancer and was at the Tata Memorial Hospital at Mumbai for the last two months. The end came at about 0100 hours, family members informed.
Goswami was the first person to attain double FRCP from the state, having attained the degrees from Glasgow University and Edingurh Varsity.
He was also the first chairperson of the to be set up Tezpur Medical College.
An Assam Pradesh Congress Committee member, Dr Goswami had represented Tezpur in the state Assembly between 1972-78.
His body would be flown in to his hometown Tezpur tomorrow for last rites.
Goswami's death was condoled across the state.
