DMK Youth Wing plea on AFT Mill workers dues
Puducherry,Sep 25 (UNI)The Youth Wing of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) today urged the administration to waive loan dues of workers of the AFT Mills to cooperative credit society of the mills similar to the waiver of cooperative agricultural loans.
In a statement here, DMK Youth Wing Convenor R Siva, MLA, said the cooperative credit society of the mill used to provide short term loans to workers during re-opening of schools to enable them procure books and other items for their wards.
The dues deducted from the salary of the workers was not remitted to the society causing a situation where the workers could not get fresh loans.
In this situation the loan dues of the workers should be waived,he demanded.
He also pointed out to lack of pay revision of workers for the past 15 years while officers and staff were enjoying revised pay.
The present price rise of all commodities made the lives of the mill workers miserable, he pointed out.
