CPI(M), TDP stage dharna against Nuclear Deal
Tirupati, Sep 25 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh unit of CPI(M) and TDP jointly organised a dharna in protest against the Indo-US Nuclear Deal, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, CPI(M) State Committee member Somaiah alleged that the Nuclear deal, which is likely to be finalised between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and US President George Bush in Washington today, was harmful to the country.
The Hyde Act in the 123 agreement would affect the economic development of India, he said, adding, even after strong protests from many political parties, the Prime Minister was visiting US during which he hopes to finalise the Deal.
The dharna was organised in front of the Tirupati Municipal Corporation here.
The Nuclear Deal would not solve the power shortage problem in the country but it would badly affect India's sovereignty, he added.
