Container workers strike at Cochin Port called off
Kochi, Sep 25 (UNI) The four-day-old strike by container trailer workers, which had paralaysed the movement of containters to and from Cochin Port, was called off today.
The strike was withdrawn following talks between the workers' unions and Cochin Port Trust (CPT) Chairman N Ramachandran, a spokesman for the CPT said.
The strike is being called off with immediate effect.
The container trailer workers had gone on a flash strike on Monday night after an altercation with CISF personnel.
Reconciliation talks called by the Regional Labour Commissioner yesterday had failed to break the deadlock.
