Udupi, Sep 25 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party Karnataka President D V Sadananda Gowda today alleged that the opposition Congress is creating base for destabilising the BJP led government in the State.
"The Central team's visit to asses the 'ground reality' following the recent attacks on Christian prayer halls was clear evidence in this regard", he added.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Gowda alleged that the central team led by M L Kamawat, Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Union Home Ministry, instead of performing observer duty by assessing the situation and submit its report, had taken unilateral decision to declare that the state government had failed to take preventive measures to contain the spread of attacks on churches. "The team had instead of performing the duty of observers had become like Judge passing the remarks," he alleged.
Mr Gowda said that when the state government which was successful in containing and bring the situation under total control and taken steps for judicial probe and appointed the Judge and fixed the terms of references, sending of the central team with 'pre-conceived notions' was nothing but 'pressure tactics' by the centre to indirectly create hurdles to the judicial probe. The decision by the officers' team to pass the remarks on the state government even before submitting its report was severe disrespect shown to democratic system and the centre should treat this as serious lapse, he demanded.
Mr. Gowda alleged that the team had visited only the damaged Christian prayer halls and took 'one side views' without meeting or taking the views of the other side. The team also failed to record neither the statement of Bishop of Mangalore nor conducted any inquiry or met any Hindu organizations to take their views. It had also failed to inquire into the alleged literature insulting Hindu Gods. The team had also failed in its duty to mention the security measures taken by the state government, he pointed.
