Cong appoints president, working president of KPCC

New Delhi, Sep 25 (UNI) Senior Congress leader R V Deshpande has been appointed as the president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) while former state minister D K Shivakumar has been nominated as the working president, a newly created post.

Mr Deshpande will succeed Mr M Mallikarjuna Kharge while Mr Shivakumar will be the first working president of the KPCC.

The appointments were cleared by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, AICC Secretary Tom Vadakkan said.

With this announcement, a major hurdle has been cleared ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, observers felt.
