BJP govt will execute Afzal immediately: Rajnath

Bhopal, Sep 25 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh today said, after coming to power at the Centre, the BJP would ensure immediate execution of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru.

Addressing the party's 'Karyakarta Mahakumbh' at the Jamboori Maidan here, Mr Singh reiterated his demand to hang Afzal and in the same breath slammed the Centre's United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime for its appeasement policy and dragging its feet over taking a decision to execute the militant.

''This has boosted the morale of terrorists, who triggered one blast after another in different cities including the national capital in the recent past and the UPA government has failed to crush terrorism. It even repealed the Prevention Of Terrorism Act,'' the senior BJP leader said while advocating a stringent law to cope with the menace.

He felt that national consensus was required to formulate such legislation as it directly related to national security.
