Banking service cripled for the second day
Bangalore, Sept 25 (UNI) The customers were put to great hardship as the Banks remained closed for the second day today with employees and Officers participating in a two-day nationwide strike call given by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU).
Speaking to newsmen here, Karnataka Bank Employees Federation Convenor Ravindra blamed the Union Government responsible for the strike.
He said the office bearers of the National Federation would be meeting shortly to chalkout furture course of action.
In Bangalore city, the customers were feeling the pinch since there was display on ATM screens to the effect that 'Cash Exhausted' and the security personel at the ATM centers were not allowing other bank customers to operate.
In Mangalore and Udupi almost all branches of public sector banks and private sector Karnataka Bank remained closed in protest against merger and consolidation in the banking sector and delay in the wage settlement.
Protest demonstrations were held through out the State by the agitating employees.
