Unidentified person kills constable, his wife in attack

Mumbai, Sep 24 (UNI) An unidentified person attacked and stabbed to death a head constable and his wife at State Reserve Police (SRP) colony in the western suburb of Goregaon last night.

While, the couple's four-year-old daughter sustained stab wounds on her forehead in the attack.

The couple was identified as Gulab Patil alias Sawade (30), a head constable attached to Thane Rural Police, and his wife Chitra.

At around 2030 hrs, the culprit entered the couple's house in SRP colony and allegedly attacked them with sharp weapons, killing the husband-wife duo on the spot while their daughter, Sona, sustained injuries on her forehead. She is battling for life in a private hospital at Malad, police said here today.

According to police, primary investigations revealed that Mr Patil's cousin had come to Mumbai to recover his dues from him. He might have killed them when the deceased expressed his inability to repay the same.

Cases of double murder and attempt to murder have been registered against the culprit, they added.
