Shullai raises sectarian clashes with Chatterjee

Shillong, Sep 24 (UNI) Meghalaya's Deputy Speaker Sanbor Shullai has taken up the issue of atrocities against the Christians in several parts of India with Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee.

Mr Shullai raised the issue during the 73rd conference of presiding officers of all legislative body in the country.

" Chatterjee has assured me to take up the matter of atrocities against Christians to ensure that spirit of secularism is upheld as developed by Mahatma Gandhi,'' the Deputy Speaker said.

He said almost all the Speakers and Deputy Speakers attended to the meeting, which began on September 20. Other significant aspect of the meeting includes discussion on terrorism which is posing threat to the country.
