Shullai raises sectarian clashes before Somnath Chatterjee

Shillong, Sep 24 (UNI) Meghalaya Deputy Speaker Sanbor Shullai has raised the issue of atrocities against Christians before Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee.

Mr Shullai raised the issue during the 73rd conference of presiding officers of the legislative bodies in the country.

'' Mr Chatterjee has assured me to take up the matter to ensure that spirit of secularism is maintained throughout the country as propagated by Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation,'' the Deputy Speaker said.

Almost all Speakers and Deputy Speakers attended the conference, which began on September 20, he informed.

Other issues discussed include terrorism, he said.
