Sarchu-Leh road link opens for traffic
Shimla, Sep 24 (UNI) Snow stranded 300 people were today rescued after opening of a road link from Sarchu to Leh.
Lahaul and Spiti Deputy Commissioner, Mr C Palrasu said that most of the stranded passengers and tourists had been rescued after clearing of snow from Sarchu-Leh road, which was closed from last five days due to heavy snow fall.
However, the DC said that 10 trekkers from Holland trapped near Chandertal lake were still stranded and attempts were being made to rescue them.
Mr Palrasu said that a rescue team had been deployed to Chandertal, Batal and Kunjam-Jot.
He said that the tourists stranded at Chandertal had been provided essential items including snowshoes and food stuff.
