Olympian Neha gives BPCL flying start
Chandigarh, Sep 24 (UNI) Spearheaded by Olympian Neha Aggarwal, Bharat Petroleum Corporation of India started their campaign with a bang by routing Life Insurance Corporation of India by 3-1 in a Group A match of the All India PSU Table Tennis Tournament being organised by Airport Authority of India at the Sector 23 Table Tennis Hall here today.
Hitting fluently on both sides of the table, Neha won her both matches fluently. Neha, who represented India in the Beijing Olympics Games, defeated Chandrani Dey 11-6, 11-7, 11-6 to give her team 1-0 lead. In her second match, Neha downed Deepali Ranghshai 11-6, 11-5, 11-5.
Hosts Airport Authority of India blanked Central Warehousing Corporation by 3-0 in the opening group Men's A Group. Harmit Desai rallied to beat Yakshal 4-11, 11-0, 11-9, 4-11, 11-9 in the opening singles match. Taj Mandal made it 2-0 as he defeated Vijay 11-5, 15-13, 5-11, 11-8. Navneet wrapped up the match as prevailed over Rajat 12-10, 11-5, 11-13, 11-5.
Earlier, Chandigarh Finance-cum-Secretary Sports Sanjay Kumar was the chief guest and inaugurated the tournament. Among those present on the occasion were Regional Executive Director Northern region, AAI, A Murugesan, Airport Controller Chandigarh Suneel Dutt and Chandigarh Table Tennis Association secretary Patanjali Kumar.
Sixteen men's and 10 women's teams are taking part in the tournament.
