More powers to Panchayatraj institutions
Hyderabad, Sep 24 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh cabinet today decided to transfer subjects relating to welfare of women, children, and Physically challenged, to Panchayat Raj Institutions as per the 73rd Constitutional Amendment Act, Addressing newspersons after the cabinet meeting here, chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Information Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy said the cabinet also decided to form Gram Panchayats with a population of 5000 in plain areas and those with population of 2500 in hilly areas, into clusters for administrative convenience and effective supervision of schemes implemented by them.
The cabinet decided to construct own buildings for 2366 gram panchayats and 5671 buildings for ''Mahila Samakyas''.
