Hearing in Sankararaman case posted to Oct 24

Puducherry, Sep 24: Puducherry principal district and sessions judge D Krishna Raj posted the Sankararaman murder case, in which the Kanchi Acharyas Jayendra Sarasawathi and Vijeyendra Saraswathi are the prime accused, to October 24 for further hearing.

Fourteen out of 24 accused, including the Acharyas, failed to turn up when the case came before the court today.

Separate petitions citing the reasons for their absence was filed by their respective counsels.

The Puducherry administration appointed Special Public Prosecutor to appear in this case today and Mr N Devadoss, appeared for the prosecution.
