Departmental inquiry to be conducted in fire accident

Hyderabad, Sep 24 (UNI) A departmental inquiry would be conducted into the fire in two AC coaches in Secunderabad-Tirupati Padmavati Express at Rajapalem in Prakasam district today.

Chief Public Relations Officer of the South Central Railway, P Krishnaiah told UNI that heads of departments concerned would conduct the inquiry to accertain the reasons for the fire.

Notification for the inquiry would be issued tomorrow.

The Vulavapadu station staff and guard of the train, initially noticed smoke emanating from a three-tier AC coach and the driver later halted the train after reaching Rajapalem.

The three-tier AC coach was fully gutted in the fire, while the two-tier AC coach was partially burnt.

However, there were no casualities or injuries to any passengers of the train as the train staff and guard had made the passengers to get down from the affected coaches.
