CPI(M) extends support to bank's strike
New Delhi, Sep 24 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) has extended its full support to the strike by bank employees against further liberalisation of the banking sector.
In a statement issued here today, the party said in the light of the global financial crisis, such reforms will only make India more vulnerable.
''The country has been able to stave off this crisis only because the UPA Government could not go ahead with these measures owing to stiff resistance from the left parties,'' it said.
The polit bureau cautioned the Government against proceeding with such reforms.
The two-day strike has been called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), a conglomerate of nine major bank unions.
