Clay Aiken confirms he is gay

Washington, Sept 24 : American pop singer Clay Aiken has finally come out of the closet and confirmed that he is gay.

Aiken revealed his sexual orientation to a magazine, which features him on its upcoming cover with the headline "Yes, I'm Gay" written on it.

The magazine cover also had a quote by Aiken, stating his reason for admitting he is gay.

"I cannot raise a child to lie or hide things," Fox News quoted Aiken as having told People magazine.

The magazine also confirmed that the singer was on its cover, but refused to divulge any information about the interview.

Aiken, who became famous after the television program American Idol in 2003, had fathered the child with his friend and record producer Jaymes Foster.
